THE AUTOMOTIVE TEAM
The Milea Truck and Auto Group Vintage Grand Prix is the brain child of Richard Pepe. A longtime Hudson Valley resident and a lifelong car guy. Rich caught the car bug in his teenage years when his older brother and best friend were both auto mechanics. “Growing up around four wheels mixed with the smell of oil, gas, and exhaust fumes just got me hooked” Rich likes to say. From watching his brother drag race down at Englishtown, NJ – to seeing a Formula 1 race in person – to attending every local car show that he could find. He just loved cars. But the real drive to create something came when he visited a friend of his in Monterey, California and he had the chance to walk on the lawn of the famed Pebble Beach golf links and experience the storied Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Known as the granddaddy of all car shows. Pebble, as it is referred to brings auto enthusiasts from around the globe to the 18th hole on one Sunday each August to see the automobile as art and to experience the finest machines man ever created to use the roads.
In 2012 he got together with his friend and founded the Carmel Mission Classic (www.carmelmissionclassic.org) A relaxed car event held in the central courtyard of a 300 year old Spanish mission with all of its proceeds going to the Knights of Columbus for its charities and to the Mission itself.
As beautiful as that part of the country is. Rich feels that the Hudson Valley is even more picturesque. So when it comes to location, location, location. He wanted to start right here in his own backyard. And so now we have, The Milea Truck and Auto Group Vintage Grand Prix.
